River Bend ICM is a social justice ministry within the United Church of Canada framework that focuses on Ethical community collaboration and authentic relationships.
We ensure that community collaboration is the bedrock of every single ICM partnership, initiative and action.
We work from a “Nothing About Us Without Us” foundation to ensure the community’s needs are centered at the outset and throughout advocacy, political action and joint community efforts.
ICM is fully staffed by Essential Voices from the surrounding core community (EV), ensuring that the people most affected by decisions are rightly partners at all decision-making tables. This also ensures a broader, more progressive approach to urban social justice issues.
This T-shirt serves the dual role of acting as a fundraiser but also an awareness campaign. It loudly and proudly states what ICM is all about.
I would like to draw particular attention to “Mental Health is Health”. Did you know that one in five Canadians struggles with a mental Health Issue? This is one of the biggest issues in our healthcare system, and it is not taken as seriously or as urgently as our physical health.
We have all seen the impact of poor Mental Health on our community and ICM has focused its work in this area on policy change and advocating for individuals trying to get support in a system that has failed them time after time.
After speaking with Katie from Fineline designs about this project, I knew she was the local creator for us! Her commitment to reducing stigma around mental health closely aligns with the statutes of ICM’s and we are grateful for her commitment to innovation and quality.
